Part-Time Museum Interns & Docents for CANVAS' National Museum Exhibition

Are you a student or recent graduate passionate about Philippine art, culture, and children’s rights? Do you enjoy engaging with people, especially children, and want hands-on experience in a museum setting?

CANVAS (The Center for Art, New Ventures & Sustainable Development) is now accepting applications for part-time interns and docents to help run our upcoming exhibition at the National Museum of the Philippines. This is a unique chance to gain real-world museum experience, connect with leading artists and advocates, and contribute to a meaningful cause.

💼 About the position:

  • Part-Time, Flexible Schedule

  • Minimum Commitment: 3 months

  • Start Date: Rolling, based on exhibition needs

  • Location: National Museum of Fine Arts, Manila

  • Selected candidates will be able to sign up for pre-scheduled time slots and will receive training prior to deployment.

🔍 Responsibilities:

  • Welcome and assist museum visitors, particularly children and school groups.

  • Help facilitate interactive tours and activities aligned with the exhibit’s themes.

  • Support CANVAS staff during events and special programs.

  • Contribute to creating a safe, inclusive, and engaging experience for all guests.

👤 Who should apply:

  • College students, recent graduates, or young professionals in any field.

  • Friendly, reliable, and comfortable speaking with children and diverse audiences.

  • Interest in art, education, storytelling, or social development work.

  • Must commit to a minimum of 3 months.

Children's Museum Fellow for the Tumba-Tumba Children’s Museum of Philippine Art!

Do you love working with children? Are you passionate about Philippine art, culture, and children’s rights? Would you like to help build a pioneering museum experience from the ground up?

CANVAS (The Center for Art, New Ventures & Sustainable Development) is looking for four (4) dynamic and socially conscious graduates to join our team as Project-Based Children's Museum Fellow for an exciting, one-year engagement starting June 1, 2025, with a strong possibility for permanent, long-term employment immediately thereafter.

This is a rare opportunity to help shape the Tumba-Tumba Children’s Museum of Philippine Art, which will rise in Ibaan, Batangas. Successful applicants will first undergo immersive training and gain hands-on experience at the National Museum in Manila, before potentially transitioning into a long-term role at the new museum site.

🔍 What you’ll do:

  • Serve as a welcoming and knowledgeable guide for museum visitors—especially young children.

  • Facilitate interactive tours and programs centered on Philippine art, national identity, and children’s rights.

  • Help design and deliver fun, meaningful museum experiences that are inclusive, respectful, and rooted in truth-telling.

  • Work closely with CANVAS teams, artists, and educators in creating age-appropriate content and events.

👤 Who should apply:

  • Recent graduates from any course are welcome! Backgrounds in education, communication arts, psychology, tourism, art management, or community development are a plus.

  • Strong verbal communication and storytelling skills are highly valued.

  • Experience in event hosting, teaching, or other public-facing roles is a definite advantage.

  • Applicants must be willing to live in Manila for one year and eventually relocate or return to Ibaan, Batangas for the long-term.

  • Applications from residents everywhere are welcome, but we strongly encourage applications from residents of Batangas, especially those from Ibaan or nearby towns.
